Just back from Rotary meeting
In the picture above Secretary Alice Muhindo addresses the club and guests, thanking the speaker.
We had a good Rotary meeting tonite at the Golf Hotel. President Robertson was very gracious. I gave greetings from Strathcona Sunrise Rotary and the partners of the spring project from Campbell River, Comox Valley and rest of VI. I stated we were eager to get 20 springs done before we returned. President Robertson said: "we will get them all done before you get home!" with a big smile. That seems a little optimistic, but we'll try.
The guest speaker at the meeting was a "Clinical Practitioner" from local hospital. CP's are 75% doctors. There are only about 2000 doctors in Kenya for a population of 40 million (1:20,000) A couple other young doctors were there to thank the Kakamega club and the local Rotaract club for supporting a recent clinic that allowed 500 mothers to have a doctor visit for the first time
After the meeting we attended the board meeting. It was decided that another meeting take place tomorrow night, after contractors were contacted, concerning the spring project. The President said we are eager to start, all that must be decided is if we can start Saturday or Sunday! Fingers crossed our 2 contractors will be given the green light to begin this weekend.
